Will 2025 be a profitable year for your company? I know you want it to be, but will it?
Unless you’ve been stranded in the desert (under a rock), you know we’ve just had an election here in the USA, and the outcome will shift the party in control. Expected economic policy changes will most likely impact your business – and every client or customer you serve – in 2025. Are you positioned for profitability in the face of these potential changes?
We’ve already started to see cutbacks, elimination of planned salary increases and bonuses, and inventory stockpiling by some of the larger companies. Maybe you don’t think it will affect you at all. Well….
Anticipated shifts in economic policy will affect every business in some way. It may be in the fees you need to pay to your 1099 contractors, the new computer you anticipate needing, increases in salary for your own team (whose costs will also be going up) or even what to do if customers scale back contracts or cancel them altogether. Now is the time to figure out how your business will be affected and adjust your strategy to ensure your profitability and success. Not doing so may put you at an extreme disadvantage.
Among changes to policy that are anticipated, we expect to see new tariffs put in place. These are, by initial reports, likely to impact a wide variety of goods, including food and clothing. Will we see extensive new tariffs, or will we see any at all for that matter? I don’t know, but that is what Donald Trump said he plans to do.
And if I am wrong and your business is not impacted, you will be creating a stronger and more profitable business that may well exceed your goals for 2025. So, what’s the downside to planning?
I anticipate changes may be needed to your offerings, pricing strategy, metrics, market targeting, and (service or product) delivery strategy. You may even need to reevaluate your overall brand positioning.

While Tariffs are not yet a certainty, anyone who wants to be able to navigate successfully in 2025 needs to be thinking as if they are a given. Tariffs are a double-edged sword and the incoming administration may rethink their campaign promises. But we’ve seen the impacts on previous clients where optimistic hope that policy will change leads to scrambling and near-panic-driven adjustments when it’s almost too late. Don’t let that be your story for 2025.
